As part of our efforts to expand our New York team, we are hiring a Java Development Consultant. As a Java Development Consultant, you will work for our client to improve electronic trading systems in the financial sector (front office/trading side).
The bank operates in 80 countries and employs nearly 200,000 people, including more than 150,000 in Europe. It holds a leading position in its three core business areas: Retail Banking, Investment Solutions, and Corporate and Investment Banking.
The development team is part of a global pricing and electronic market technology team that develops the systems used for trading operations. This is a front-office team that works directly with traders and company management to deliver high-quality solutions both locally and across platforms. This is initially a contract position, with the possibility of becoming permanent.
Your RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and develop distributed pricing and e-market applications as part of a global development team.
- Work with traders, developers, business analysts, and vendors to determine functional requirements and application integration plans.
- Provide second-level support for applications used by front-office staff.
Your PROFILE
- Proven skills and foundational knowledge in Java.
- Experience in a front-office trading environment
- Ability to design and develop scalable solutions that are easy to maintain and support.
- A solid understanding of the Java memory model and multithreading development.
- Knowledge of the SDLC and prior experience working on large-scale software development projects.
- Ability to maintain a broad perspective in order to account for system dependencies, specific cases, and the impact of changes when delivering robust solutions.
- Previous experience in the development of electronic trading systems.
- Knowledge of interest rate products (Treasuries, interest rate swaps, etc.) and their trading cycle.
- Previous experience at a major international investment bank, particularly in a front-office (trading) environment dealing with fixed-income products.
- Proficiency in SQL and experience working with SQL Server and/or Oracle.
- Previous experience with ION trading services (connectivity, STP, RFQ, VMO, and MMI).
- Knowledge of TIBCO Rendezvous.
