Interview with Stéphane G., Data Analyst at Quanteam North America – in Canada since February 2025
After several years of experience at QUANTEAM in Paris, Stéphane seized the opportunity to take on an international assignment in Canada. He tells us about his career path, his move to Montreal (to QUANTEAM North America), and shares his valuable advice on how to succeed when relocating abroad.
Why did you decide to join Quanteam after graduating?
I joined Quanteam in July 2018, after completing my computer engineering degree with a specialization in IT for Finance (EFREI). At the time, I was looking for a consulting firm that could support me on challenging projects in the banking sector. So I joined Quanteam and began my career in Paris, first at Société Générale for four years, then at Crédit Agricole for three years—always on projects related to structured products—and finally one year at AXA. These early experiences allowed me to strengthen my skills in data and business intelligence.

Where did this desire to work abroad come from?
The idea of moving abroad had been on my mind for some time. Even during my time at Crédit Agricole, I was thinking about it and had begun to lay the groundwork and take the necessary steps. I’ve always been drawn to wide-open spaces, nature, and multicultural environments. Canada, and particularly Quebec, appealed to me for these reasons: a bilingual region with strong French-speaking roots, a quality of life connected to nature, and a vibrant culture with many music festivals. The fact that Quanteam has an office in Montreal was a real catalyst. I planned my move several months in advance, first discussing it with the HR team, then with my Practice Director, Eric, before reaching out to Marion Rousset on the QUANTEAM North America team in Canada.
How did your assignment at Quanteam and the Rainbow Partners Group go?
I wanted to take the time to plan this project so that it would go as smoothly as possible. After an initial conversation with Marion to discuss my goals, an assignment opportunity came up a few months later at BNP Paribas in Montreal. That’s the one that came to fruition in early 2025. Once the assignment was confirmed, everything moved very quickly: in less than a month, I was there. I had planned ahead by leaving my apartment in Paris to temporarily move back in with my parents while I finalized the arrangements. I obtained a Working Holiday Visa (WHV) on my own, and QUANTEAM took care of my support (airfare, help with settling in, etc.). Within two weeks, I had found an apartment in Montreal. The team’s support was exemplary, both in terms of administrative and personal assistance.
Quanteam’s management team and HR department have always been attentive to my needs and helped me plan my career move so that I could leave with peace of mind
Can you tell us about your current assignment?
I currently work at BNP Paribas in Montreal as a Data Analyst, focusing on issues related to U.S. compliance. The role is heavily focused on data visualization and involves extensive use of Power BI. I collaborate with compliance teams to produce detailed, visual analyses of complex regulatory data. It’s a demanding but stimulating environment that allows me to continue developing my expertise in this field.
What advice would you give to a QUANTEAM consultant—or an external consultant looking to join QUANTEAM—who is considering an international assignment?
First of all: don’t rush into it. Choosing the right time to leave is essential. In my case, I was single, without any major commitments, and at a stage in my life where this transition made sense. Next, I strongly recommend securing your assignment before you leave. This allows you to arrive with peace of mind and focus on settling in. Finally, I suggest allowing a little time to adjust once you’re there, before the assignment begins. Arriving a few weeks early gives you time to acclimate, reduces stress, and helps you get off to a good start. And thank you to Marion and the entire QUANTEAM team in Montreal for making this transition so smooth!
