MOBILITY STORIES: FROM PARIS TO MONTREAL, INTERVIEW WITH STEPHANE, DATA ANALYST AT QUANTEAM NORTH AMERICA 2560 1924 Quanteam

Interview with Stéphane G., Data Analyst at Quanteam North America - in Canada since February 2025

After several years' experience with QUANTEAM in Paris, Stéphane seized the opportunity of an international assignment in Canada. He tells us about his journey, his settling in Montreal (at QUANTEAM North America) and shares his invaluable advice for successful mobility abroad.

Why did you choose to join Quanteam after your studies?

I joined Quanteam in July 2018, following my studies in computer engineering with a specialization in IT for Finance (EFREI). At the time, I was looking for a consulting firm capable of supporting me on demanding assignments in the banking world. So I joined Quanteam and began my career in Paris, first at Société Générale for 4 years, then at Crédit Agricole for 3 years, still on assignments related to structured products, and finally a year at AXA. These early experiences enabled me to strengthen my skills in data and business intelligence.

Where did this desire to go international come from?

The idea of going abroad had been on my mind for some time. I'd already been thinking about it during my time at Crédit Agricole, and had begun to put the necessary thoughts and actions in place. I've always been attracted by the great outdoors, nature and multicultural environments. Canada, and particularly Quebec, appealed to me for these reasons: a bilingual territory with a French-speaking base, a quality of life linked to nature, and a lively culture with lots of music festivals. The fact that Quanteam has an office in Montreal was a real catalyst. I anticipated my departure several months in advance, first talking to the HR team, then to my Practice Director, Eric, before getting in touch with Marion Rousset in the QUANTEAM North America teams in Canada.

How did your move to Quanteam and the Rainbow Partners Group go?

I wanted to take the time to build up this project so that it would take place in the best possible conditions. After an initial exchange with Marion to discuss my aspirations, a mission opportunity presented itself after a few months, at BNP Paribas in Montreal. This was the one that materialized at the beginning of 2025. Once the assignment was validated, everything went very quickly: in less than a month, I was on site. I had anticipated this by leaving my Parisian home to return temporarily to my parents' while I finalized the formalities. I obtained a Working Holiday Permit (WHP) on my own, and QUANTEAM took care of my accompaniment (plane tickets, help with settling in...) Within two weeks, I had found an apartment in Montreal. The team's support was exemplary, both in administrative and human terms.

Quanteam's management and HR team were always ready to listen and helped me anticipate my mobility so that I could leave with complete peace of mind.

Can you tell us about your current mission?

I'm currently working at BNP Paribas Montréal as a Data Analyst, on issues related to US compliance. It's a very dataviz-oriented mission, with a strong use of Power BI. I work closely with the compliance teams to produce fine, visual analyses of complex regulatory data. It's a demanding but stimulating environment, which enables me to continue progressing in my specialization.

What advice would you give to a QUANTEAM consultant - or an external consultant wishing to join QUANTEAM - who is considering international mobility?

First: don't rush. Choosing the right moment to leave is essential. In my case, I was single, with no strong ties, and in a phase of life where this transition made sense. Secondly, I strongly recommend securing your mission before you leave. This is what allows you to arrive calmly and concentrate on settling in. Finally, I advise you to plan a short adaptation period on site, before the start of your assignment. Arriving a few weeks ahead of time allows you to acclimatize, reduce stress and get off to a good start. And thank you to Marion and the entire QUANTEAM team in Montreal for facilitating this transition!
