MOBILITY STORIES: BACK IN LYON AFTER EIGHT YEARS IN LISBON. INTERVIEW WITH VÂNIA, SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER EX-QUANTEAM PORTUGAL 2560 1924 Quanteam

Interview with Vânia M., Senior Project Manager, ex-QUANTEAM Portugal in Lisbon since 2017, now with QUANTEAM in Lyon

After more than eight years in Lisbon, where she worked for various companies including QUANTEAM Portugal, Vania chose to return to France to join the QUANTEAM and RAINBOW PARTNERS teams in Lyon, on an assignment with Groupe BPCE, to combine personal life and professional continuity. She tells us about her career, her life in Lisbon, her desire to return to France and shares a few tips on life abroad.

Vânia, can you tell us about your career before joining QUANTEAM?

My background is quite atypical! I was born in Portugal, grew up there until the age of 10, then moved to France in the south-east. I then studied accounting and management and worked for 8 years in several sectors, including 4 years in asset management in Monaco, before switching to global design. In 2017, after a stay in Portugal, I felt the need to move back there permanently and started a new reconversion, post covid, as a project manager in digital transformation. After a few years on my own, I joined QUANTEAM Portugal in 2024.

Why did you join QUANTEAM Portugal and how did your integration go?

Great job! I joined the QUANTEAM Portugal team as a senior banking application transition project manager, on assignment, at Klx, a subsidiary of the Crédit Agricole Group dedicated to IT department transformation. I liked the assignment straight away, and even though I was based at the customer's premises, I appreciated the quality of the exchanges with Guillaume, my manager. Relations are simple, transparent and human, with a team that is present and committed to supporting its consultants.

And why did you choose to return to France? How did you organize your move to Lyon?

It's a family decision. My daughter has health problems that will be better looked after in France, and we wanted to be closer to our family. As my husband has a new professional project in France, this accelerated our decision. For my part, I looked for opportunities in various French cities, without success at first, but I didn't want to leave QUANTEAM. That's when I spoke directly to Guillaume, who accelerated and facilitated my move to the Lyon team.

After that, everything went extremely smoothly. Guillaume put me in touch with Julien, Associate Director, in Lyon, as well as Pauline, from the HR team in France. Everything fell into place very quickly: recruitment based on profile, new contract transmitted in advance, seniority retained... I joined the Lyon team in October 2025. I already knew Lyon, so it made sense personally, and I immediately liked the team's mindset: a more collaborative, European spirit, which contrasts a little with the more ... "flashy" side of the professional culture within typically local companies, even though I loved my eight years spent in Portugal. Today, I'm on assignment with the BPCE Group.

What advice would you give to those hesitating to go on a mobility trip, or to anyone interested in joining QUANTEAM abroad?

If I had to give one piece of advice to those hesitating to go on a mobility trip, it would be to dare. International mobility is a profoundly transformative adventure, both professionally and personally. I've had some extraordinary experiences and met some extraordinary people. Of course, there are difficulties associated with settling in, which I experienced both when I arrived here and now when I'm settling in Lyon, such as finding accommodation. I had to call in a local property hunter and it's still not a done deal. But at QUANTEAM, you're never alone, there's real support and a real desire to make every step easier. This experience allows you to broaden your vision, discover other ways of working and open up to new opportunities. If you feel like it, listen to her, because taking this step is often the opportunity to write a new page in your career and your life.
