Donald ZONGO, Consultant Manager in the Compliance & Regulatory Practice – QUANTEAM
Pro bono assignment for the “Cultude” association

How and why did you choose this mission?

When I filled out the questionnaire on the Day One platform, I was offered several opportunities. I chose “Cultude” because their project immediately resonated with me: it aims to support people living in extreme poverty by empowering them to develop and take control of their own futures. This focus on autonomy and sustainability particularly motivated me.

Can you tell us more about the project and your role in this assignment?

The project involves creating local structures tailored to identified needs, in order to offer concrete and sustainable solutions. The long-term goal is for the beneficiaries to be able to continue these development projects on their own.
For my part, I serve as the volunteer project manager: I recruit volunteers, conduct interviews, work on the welcome kit, organize orientation sessions, oversee their training, and ensure that any issues that arise are resolved. Given my expertise in compliance, there are also plans for me to eventually implement a KYC process for the association’s third-party partners, as regulatory requirements are becoming increasingly significant in the nonprofit sector.

What format did the project take, and how much time do you spend on it?

The project is currently being carried out remotely, with a quarterly meeting scheduled among volunteers. If it were to shift to an in-person format, I would gladly agree to it. I devote about one day a week to it, in addition to an internal “Udemy” training course to prepare for an international compliance certification and my other activities at the firm (preparing for client meetings, presenting lessons learned, responding to requests for proposals, etc.). I proposed this schedule to the association, and they accepted it.

What did this experience bring you, both professionally and personally?

Professionally, it allows me to develop skills in human resources: recruitment, organizing the onboarding of new volunteers, and coordinating teams. Personally, it aligns with my beliefs: to help, to the best of my ability, people who are facing real difficulties in their daily lives. This echoes my personal commitment to another organization that I already support in France on a personal basis.

How was the support provided by the Rainbow Care and DayOne teams?

Very positively. The platform is easy to use, user-friendly, and comprehensive. The Day One team is responsive and always available, whether by email, phone, or even text message. It’s reassuring to feel supported throughout this process. And the support from our HR team is essential to ensuring everything runs smoothly.

Are you planning to participate in the RainbowCare program again, and would you recommend it to other employees in the group?

Yes, of course. If I have time during my next client assignment, I’d like to continue with “Cultude” or explore a new nonprofit. I wholeheartedly recommend the experience to my colleagues. The assignments offered by Day One are varied: there’s something for every background and skill set. It also helps us realize that beyond our daily professional and personal lives, there are realities of vulnerability that are often unknown to us—and where every small act makes a difference.
