PRODUCT IMPLEMENTATION AND MIGRATION WITHIN THE CALYPSO SOFTWARE SUITE
Background & Challenges
Project management role / functional and technical implementation within the Information Systems Department, which reports to the trading room. The department is responsible for managing and upgrading the information systems of the Treasury and Foreign Exchange Division (market operations), as well as analyzing and implementing various system upgrades.
Our team of consultants—comprising a developer, a business analyst, and a project manager—was tasked with migrating the trading room’s products from an older system to Calypso V16.
During the three-year mission, the stakes were high:
- Meeting milestones:
- Given that the project was divided into three phases (one phase for Foreign Exchange, one for the Money Market, and one for Securities), on-time delivery was critical, as the old system was no longer being maintained or supported and therefore could no longer be updated.
- Regulations:
- Ensure that Calypso is adapted to meet all regulatory requirements imposed on the trading floor, including custom developments
- Change management:
- Train users on this new tool to ensure, at a minimum, that business productivity remains at the same level.
Solution
The proposed measures and actions taken were as follows:
- Implementation of Calypso tailored to the client’s business requirements
- Ongoing communication with the publisher to fix bugs and improve certain features.
- Proposing and developing solutions outside the software package to address specific requirements related to risk management, accounting, reporting, or even regulatory compliance
- Tool training for various roles: Front-end, Middle-end, and Back-end.
